Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard

Instructions

  1. Step 1.Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2.Mix beef, egg, onion, milk, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper gently.
  3. Step 3.Shape the mixture into a loaf in a lined pan.
  4. Step 4.Whisk ketchup, brown sugar and mustard for the glaze.
  5. Step 5.Spread half the glaze over the loaf.
  6. Step 6.Bake until the centre reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Step 7.Brush with remaining glaze during the final minutes.
  8. Step 8.Rest ten minutes before slicing and serving.
