Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
Instructions
Follow each step in order. The directions below are written so a beginner can understand what to do, what to look for, and when to move on to the next step.
- Step 1.Whisk maple syrup, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, ginger and pepper together in a shallow dish until the marinade is smooth.
- Step 2.Add the chicken breasts, turn to coat, cover the dish, and refrigerate for two hours while turning once.
- Step 3.Coat an indoor grill pan or cast-iron skillet with cooking spray and heat it over medium heat before adding chicken.
- Step 4.Remove the chicken from the marinade while reserving the marinade in a small saucepan for the finishing sauce.
- Step 5.Cook chicken until an instant-read thermometer in the thickest part reaches 160°F to 165°F, about three to five minutes per side.
- Step 6.Bring the reserved marinade to a simmer over medium heat and cook until it reduces by about half, around four minutes.
- Step 7.Baste the cooked chicken generously with the reduced maple sauce, allowing the glaze to coat the surface evenly.
- Step 8.Rest briefly, slice if desired, and serve immediately with the remaining warm reduced sauce.
